get to know l
As a young attorney, I would bring much-needed energy and expertise to the University Heights City Council. My experience in dispute resolution, writing policy, and love of learning make me well-suited to serve the community on City Council. I have been involved in social and environmental justice initiatives for nearly two decades, and I am extremely passionate about community advocacy and engagement. I proudly identify as a queer, Jewish, publicly-educated midwesterner, and I have been in UH for 6 years now.
I am running because I think we need more young, queer, and community-centric representation in our city's local government. We need fresh perspectives and people interested in trying new things. My top three issues are (1) building community resource-sharing programs; (2) modernizing our waste collection program and reducing our carbon footprint; and (3) improving representation and effective democratic government.
ere's our plan
(the future) Wiley community center
(the former) wiley middle school
We need a community center, and the (former) Wiley Middle School could be our community's dream-come-true. It's centrally located and full of spaces that could be feeding, educating, sheltering, and connecting our community. We just need leaders with the vision and dedication to make it happen.
RUBBISH REFORM
Our system isn't sustainable
Our current system is outdated, expensive, demanding for our employees, and environmentally damaging. I support a new plan that is cost-effective (25% less per household), safer for our workers (and requires no lay-offs), significantly reduces our carbon footprint, introduces more impactful recycling, and keeps the process in-house.
ETHICAL LEADERSHIP
& Good governance
I believe "good governance" is about duty to community through ethical leadership. My duty to the community is to strive for a more representative, caring, and equitable society; honoring the community's trust means dedication to transparency, humility, open-mindedness, and the oaths I keep as an attorney.
